I notice over the last few years that the general public has started to pay attention to when Mercury retrogrades. For three weeks, three times a year this little planet closest to the Sun appears to stop along its elliptical path and go backwards. It’s actually an optical illusion. It’s due to the shape of its orbit and how we see it from our geocentric perspective. As it move to retrograde or go direct again it will appear to move slower and come to a stop before changing direction.

That’s the science behind it so now let’s look at how astrology applies that energy to what we experience.

As this planet rules over persecution, communication, information and thought process. It is how we speak and how we hear. Paperwork and connectivity are also under Mercury. So when a Mercury retrograde happens we experience problems and challenges with anything related to communication. Emails get lost in space. car alarms go for no reason. And we tend to argue more. Astrologers will traditionally warn against signing papers or have surgery during a Mercury retrograde. It’s when mistakes are more easily made and important details can be overlooked. The next one is June 18th going direct on July 12th 2020.
